| Welcome
Welcome
and thank you for visiting Experience Corps on the web. On this
site, through these windows, you can read all about our
beginnings, our size and scope,
and our projects around
the country. You can read about the impact of Experience Corps on
student achievement
(PDF) and on the Corps
members themselves. You can read what principals and others
have to say about us. And I hope you will.
But to get the full picture, I hope you’ll spend a few minutes
with our members –
the individuals who bring their experience, their dedication, and
their hearts to work in urban public schools every day. You’ll
find extraordinary photos of them
all over our site and their stories here.

A
full view of Experience Corps will reveal for you the powerful,
almost magical connection between the older adults and young children,
the passion and commitment of Experience Corps members to the future
of their communities, the leadership they exhibit every day, and
the value of their service to their own health and well-being.
A full view of Experience Corps will reinforce for you the big idea
behind our program and our parent organization, Civic Ventures –
the idea that once we as a nation see the aging of America as an
opportunity and older Americans as natural resources, we can begin
to solve some of our most pressing social problems. We can begin
to see a more optimistic future for all.
So look through the windows. Read the stories. I think you will
see lives improving, you will sense communities rebuilding, and
you will feel hope rising.
