Experience Corps Baltimore

The Experience Corps program in Baltimore is hosted by the Greater Homewood Community Corporation. The program serves students in grades K-3 during the school day, and volunteers are assigned one or two to a classroom. The volunteers work at the direction of the teacher to support student literacy, and some volunteers also choose to work at improving parent involvement and attendance, or with behavior management and library support. The program has 15-20 volunteers per school.

The mission of the Greater Homewood Community Corporation is to strengthen neighborhoods through improving education, supporting youth development, and advancing economic development and community revitalization. GHCC, in partnership with the Johns Hopkins University Center on Aging and Health, has hosted Experience Corps in Baltimore since 1998.
