"It's like a job. You have goals. You see results" -Yuriy, Experience Corps Member

Experience Corps Marin CountyExperience Corps Bay Area was established by Aspiranet in 1998. The program offers adults 55 and older the opportunity to develop caring relationships with elementary and middle school students in San Francisco, Oakland, and Marin County during and after school. Members tutor one-on-one or in small groups, provide classroom assistance, and help out in after school programs. They support youth in reading and math, creative arts, and often develop programs for children based on their own unique backgrounds and experiences.

Northern California Presbyterian Homes & Services, Inc. (NCPHS), celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2008, is a not-for-profit mission-driven corporation with a commitment to provide for the needs of older people and to promote their quality of life. The vision is achieved through diversified operations including 7 housing communities and 10 community service programs, and a focus on innovative, open, and flexible leadership.

"In the 21st century, the best anti-poverty program around is a world-class education. And in this country, the success of our children cannot depend more on where they live than on their potential."

-President Obama, "State of the Union," January 27, 2010
"Together, we can continue our commitment to education innovation by investing in Experience Corps, a program that helps elementary students by increasing the number of older adult tutors and mentors in the classroom. Independent research shows that Experience Corps works: Third-grade reading and math scores are rising and students feel safer at school."

-Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, State of the City Speech, February 22, 2010
