Requirements for Members: Experience Corps Members are required to complete a rigorous application and screening process that includes a one-hour interview; criminal and child abuse background checks; references, successful completion of all pre-service and in-service training and orientation; regular attendance; adherence to program policies and successful performance review.

Funding Support: Current funding and support for Philadelphia Experience Corps currently comes from The Corporation for National Service and AmeriCorps, our partner schools and The School District of Philadelphia, The Lenfest Foundation and AARP Pennsylvania. Generous past support has also come from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Pennsylvania Department for Economic & Community Development, The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Atlantic Philanthropies, the National Council on Aging, the US Administration on Aging, the William Penn Foundation, the Fels Foundation, The Claneil Foundation, Public/Private Ventures, Civic Ventures, and individual donors.

Growth Plans

The Philadelphia Experience Corps Program completed a large scale expansion from 10 schools to over 40, with the hope of sustaining growth until all elementary schools have an Experience Corps team. Working with AARP, initial planning has been completed for a state-wide expansion..
