Program Impact
Recent studies conducted by Washington University and Johns Hopkins University show statistically significant increases in reading and literacy levels for students supported by Experience Corps tutors.
In Philadelphia, the children selected for support by Experience Corps tutors are on average over two years below grade level proficiency. 60% of these children show increases of one full grade level or more after an average of only 45 instructional sessions with an Experience Corps tutor.
A survey conducted in 2008 showed that 94% of teachers reported that having an Experience Corps member in the classroom improved student learning overall. 93% of teachers were extremely satisfied with the quality of assistance they received from Experience Corps members. 99% of Experience Corps members reported being satisfied with their experience. 100% of Experience Corps members felt their service was useful to students and schools.
