Experience Corps Tucson Experience Corps is hosted in Tucson by the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona. The program mobilizes the time, talent and experience of older adults who work provide reading and literacy support to children in the Flowing Wells and Tucson Unified School Districts. Experience Corps members work in teams providing tutoring and other literacy activities for K-3 students with the goal of increasing their reading skills and making sure they are able to read at grade level.

The Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona, founded in 1965, is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through effective volunteerism. Experience Corps is a partner in education with local school districts. The program provides an infrastructure for older volunteers to serve effectively and comfortably within the school setting. Volunteer recruitment, screening, training, placement and management are all coordinated and supervised by trained Experience Corps staff.
